Stormchasing + other stuff
Well first off, I’m out of the military for the time being. Yeeehaaaaww!
So now I’m going to start college and I’m moving to Helsinki at the end of August, which in my opinion is frickin’ AWESOME. Time to start life on my own, folks.
And as for the stormchasing … last tuesday night me and my friend Fred went out to take photographs of lightning, and we ended up right in the middle of the biggest storm this summer, in Finland.
It was totally amazing, the rain poured down like crazy, you could barely see anything clearly 10 meters infront of the car, and the water droplets were as big as baseballs.
A lightning bolt also struck down about 100 meters from where we were standing, at that point we were in a hurry to get back in the car, especially since we were carrying umbrellas.
The thunder storm was also insane, 30 and at the most 60 lightning bolts per minute!
Some parts of Helsinki were completely flooded during the night, it felt like driving down a creek or something … like an intersection near where my new apartment is located on Vuorimiehenkatu was underwater because the drains were clogged, and also the sewer drains near Kaivopuisto were overflowing.
Here are a few photographs and videos from that night …
